London Sights, Sounds and Hotels
Burlington Arcade in London is where those on a mission to track down their ancestral heritage can also do some shopping of the highest order, with Fortnum and Mason, Bond Street, and Piccadilly, in the centre of London’s West End, all close at hand. Designed by Samuel Ware, the Arcade, the longest covered street in the British Isles, was built by Lord George Cavendish in 1819 and very little has changed since then. Legend has it that Lord George built the Arcade to prevent oyster shells being tossed into his garden by rowdy Regency bucks.
On your next trip to London city make sure that you visit London's Burlington Arcade, there's something for every person all in one place. You will find that there are many friendly and welcoming London hotels where you can rest your head at the end of your busy shopping day.
