Budapest Sights, Sounds and Hotels

The Hungarian National Opera House in Budapest was opened in 1885 and was considered the most innovative and up to date building of its time, with a revolutionary fire safety system. With a seating capacity of about 2400 originally, it was renovated in 1980 to improve stage facilities and now seats audiences of 1300. The lavishly decorated neo-Renaissance building has statues of the Muses between the Corinthian columns, colourful frescoes in the vestibule, and a three storey auditorium with a ceiling decorated by Lotz, the renowned Budapest artist. The resident orchestra is the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra.

Budapest city is full of culture and history, and this will make itself clear with a visit to Budapest's Hungarian State Opera House. Once you have taken in a performance, it will be a treat to return to your choice of the fabulous Budapest hotels.
